The beginning of the End

My Space has issued a decree...
MySpace, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., said it will review all music files uploaded by community members to their online profiles. The files will be run through a music database from Gracenote Inc.

People are already leaving the site because of slow load times and enormous amounts of spam. It's being challenged by new 'secure' sites like Facebook and others. Now that they're going to start policing the site for copyright material, and it's all pretty much copyright material, all the kids in webland are going to bail. Looks like Tom got out at the right time.

All this space are belong to US

The new United States National Space Policy.

The official also said the administration has briefed members of Congress as well as a number of governments, including Russia, on the new policy. The public, however, has not learned much about it: The policy was released at 5 p.m. on the Friday before Columbus Day, with no public announcement.
Bush's top goals are to "strengthen the nation's space leadership and ensure that space capabilities are available in time to further U.S. national security, homeland security, and foreign policy objectives" and to "enable unhindered U.S. operations in and through space to defend our interests there."

"We need a picture of him and a goat"

The October surprise.
This one is out of control.
Rep. Mark Foley (Rep.) (FIRED) apparently liked the teenage boys.
Sick Fuck.

It is a phrase oft repeated amongst political circles that "The only way we're going beat that guy (i.e. the political opponent) is to catch him fucking a goat/little boy".
usually it implies that the incumbent is unbeatable. And now it has happened for real.
How did this guy get where he is today without anyone noticing. I find it hard to believe that Mr. Foley's proclivity for young men has just 'happened' upon him or that it is due to a drinking problem. And to add insult to injury, this guy was the former Co Chair of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children.
Only in America would this story have sat on the shelf at some of the major networks, waiting for the perfect time.
Meanwhile, Florida newspapers — who were leaked copies of the e-mail with the Louisiana boy last year — defended their decision not to run stories. Both The St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald were given copies of the e-mail, as were other news organizations, including Fox News.
"Our decision at the time was ..Thatat because the language was not sexually explicit and was subject to interpretation, from innocuous to 'sick,' as the page characterized it, to be cautious," said Tom Fiedler, executive editor of the Herald. "Given the potentially devastating impact that a false suggestion of pedophilia could have on anyone, not to mention a congressman known to be gay, and lacking any corroborating information, we chose not to do a story." -International Herald Times

Our leaders need to be held to a higher standard, if the messages were untrue then Foley should have had no problem coming out vehemently against them.
We'll see how this unfolds.
